Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love returned to practice on Wednesday after recovering from a left medial collateral ligament injury he sustained in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Love missed the game against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday, which was the first game he had to sit out since becoming the starting quarterback last season. He injured his knee near the end of the season opener.
Love participated in the portion of practice open to reporters and the team is hopeful for his return. The Packers are set to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. In case Love is unable to play, backup quarterback Malik Willis would step in. Willis was acquired from the Titans in a trade announced on Aug. 27.
During the game against the Colts, Willis showcased a solid performance, completing 12 of 14 passes for 122 yards, including his first career touchdown pass. He also rushed for 41 yards on six carries. The Packers opted for a run-heavy strategy in Love’s absence, rushing 53 times for 261 yards, marking their highest rushing yardage since 2003 and their largest number of carries since 1978.
The Packers remain focused on Love’s recovery as they look ahead to their upcoming game against the Titans.
