Barcelona’s spending cap raised, still significantly lower than Real Madrid’s limit

Real Madrid has maintained its position as the Spanish league’s team with the highest spending limit even after the summer transfer window, with their cap now at nearly 755 million euros ($833 million), a slight increase from 727 million euros ($803 million). On the other hand, Barcelona made significant strides, but their cap remains considerably lower than their rival, standing at 426 million euros ($470 million) after more than doubling from 204 million euros ($225 million) earlier in the year.

Following closely behind Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid holds the third-highest spending limit in the league at 310 million euros ($342 million), slightly up from 303 million euros ($334 million). However, Sevilla faced challenges as their limit was reduced drastically from over 150 million euros ($165 million) to a mere 2.5 million euros ($2.7 million).

The spending limit set by the league represents the maximum amount each club can invest in players, coaches, and other personnel, including reserves, youth development, and various other areas. These limits are determined based on factors like revenues, costs, and debts, with each club having a unique limit. It typically amounts to around 70% of a club’s revenues, and clubs that exceed this limit must find ways to cut costs or seek additional investment.
