A judge in North Dakota has overturned the state’s abortion ban, citing that the state constitution guarantees the right to access abortion before a fetus reaches viability. State District Judge Bruce Romanick declared the ban unconstitutional, stating that it is overly vague and violates the state constitution. The ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by the only abortion clinic in North Dakota at the time, which has since relocated to Minnesota. Despite the state’s argument that a trial would be inconsequential since the clinic has moved, the judge proceeded with the case and canceled a trial slated for August.
