Additionally, federal authorities are looking into the activities of Caban’s twin brother, James Caban, who is involved in a nightclub security business, as per an individual familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. Edward Caban, 57, who comes from a Puerto Rican background, had been overseeing the nation’s largest police department for approximately 15 months. He made history as the first Latino to lead the 179-year-old NYPD.
In response to questions about Caban’s resignation, Mayor Adams refrained from commenting on his confidence in Caban, merely stating, “I have the utmost confidence in the New York City Police Department.”
