Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara has completed his recovery from a concussion and has returned to training in preparation for upcoming Champions League matches, the club announced on Thursday. Haidara sustained the head injury when he was struck by an attempted overhead kick from opponent Victor Boniface during Leipzig’s victory over Bayer Leverkusen on August 31. After the incident, coach Marco Rose noted that Haidara displayed signs of confusion, leading to his substitution during the match.
As a result of the concussion, Haidara missed two matches with the Mali national team while undergoing treatment. Leipzig confirmed that Haidara has successfully completed the necessary procedures and tests related to his head injury. The midfielder has been training with the team since the beginning of the week and has not experienced any issues.
Leipzig is set to face Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday before kicking off their Champions League campaign against Atletico Madrid on September 19. The club is pleased to have Haidara back and ready for upcoming fixtures after his recovery from the concussion incident.
