Billionaire Elon Musk sparked controversy once again by making a bizarre offer to pop superstar Taylor Swift following her endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. In a surprising Instagram post, Swift endorsed Harris over Donald Trump, citing her concerns about misinformation and highlighting the Harris-Walz ticket’s alignment with the causes she supports. She encouraged her millions of followers to register to vote, regardless of their political leanings.
Swift’s post came after Trump shared AI-generated images that falsely suggested she supported his campaign. In a swipe at Trump’s running mate, Senator J.D. Vance, who has described Democrats as “childless cat ladies,” Swift humorously embraced the label herself.
Musk, who has previously expressed alarm over what he calls a “population collapse,” responded to Swift’s endorsement with a provocative tweet on X (formerly Twitter). “Fine Taylor,” Musk wrote, “you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” This tweet quickly went viral, garnering tens of thousands of reactions, ranging from shock and disapproval to amusement.
Musk, who has fathered 12 known children and is currently embroiled in a custody dispute with former girlfriend Grimes, has made his views on population growth clear. He has also been criticized for amplifying controversial views, including the “great replacement” theory, a debunked conspiracy theory suggesting that liberals and Jewish individuals are enabling mass immigration to displace white Westerners.
During the debate between Trump and Harris, Musk actively engaged with anti-Harris and anti-media posts on X, while showing limited support for Trump. In response to a tweet suggesting that the 2024 election could turn into a battle of allegiance between him and Swift, Musk replied with his favorite emoji—the laugh-crying face. His tweet about impregnating Swift and protecting her cats was posted shortly thereafter, drawing a flood of mixed reactions online.
Neither Swift nor her boyfriend, NFL star and three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, have responded to Musk’s outlandish offer.
