Bailey Falter pitches no-hit game for Pirates against Marlins for six innings

Pittsburgh Pirates’ left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter delivered an impressive performance against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday by pitching six no-hit innings. During the game, the 27-year-old pitcher only allowed two walks. Kyle Stowers reached base to kick off the third inning but was promptly removed from the bases when Javier Sanoja grounded into a double play. Jonah Bride managed to draw a walk to begin the fifth inning.

Falter, who currently holds a record of 7-7 and a 4.45 ERA, exhibited strong pitching skills by striking out the side in the first inning with just 10 pitches. He has accumulated five strikeouts over 76 pitches, with 48 of those pitches being strikes. Notably, four of his strikeouts were achieved against the first five batters he faced during the game.

Since his debut in 2021, Falter has been a part of the MLB for four seasons. Throughout his career, he has played in 84 games, starting in 55 of them, and has a record of 17-21 with a 4.65 ERA while playing for both the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Pittsburgh Pirates had previously experienced being no-hit by the Cubs in a 12-0 defeat on September 4. During that game, the Pirates managed to draw three walks against the Cubs’ pitchers Shota Imanaga, Nate Pearson, and Porter Hodge, while the Cubs committed three errors. The recent no-hitter thrown by the Cubs marked the 326th no-hitter in major-league history and was the fourth one to occur during this season.
