Oregon’s No. 7 team secures victory over Boise State with a dramatic last-second field goal, winning 37-34

Oregon’s football team continues to face challenges as they push through the early part of the season. They secured a narrow 37-34 victory over Boise State after Atticus Sappington’s game-winning field goal in the dying moments. The Ducks, now 2-0, struggled against Boise State, a game in which they were trailing with just 10 minutes left on the clock. This win comes on the heels of a closer-than-expected victory against Idaho in the previous week.

Dillon Gabriel led the Oregon offense with 243 passing yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Ashton Jeanty shined for Boise State with 192 rushing yards and three touchdowns, nearly pulling off the underdog upset against the Ducks. The back-and-forth game saw both teams fighting hard for the win, ultimately resulting in Oregon extending its nonconference home winning streak to 34 games, the best among all active teams in the country.

Both teams displayed their offensive prowess throughout the game, with big plays and momentum shifts keeping the game unpredictable. Oregon’s offensive line faced challenges, allowing Gabriel to be sacked four times in the first half alone. Despite the issues, the Ducks managed to rally and secure the win.

Boise State coach Spencer Danielson commended his team’s effort and resilience but acknowledged the need to analyze their performance and grow from the experience. On the other hand, Oregon coach Dan Lanning expressed a sense of relief with the outcome but emphasized the importance of focusing on the process and identifying areas for improvement moving forward.

Looking ahead, Boise State will face Portland State next, aiming to bounce back from their narrow defeat, while Oregon will take on Oregon State in their upcoming matchup. The Ducks’ victory against Boise State solidifies their position in the rankings and sets the stage for an exciting season ahead.
