Cam Ward had an impressive performance in his first home start for the Miami Hurricanes, passing for 304 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-9 victory over Florida A&M. Ward’s debut saw him connect with Elijah Arroyo and Xavier Restrepo for two early touchdown passes, leading the Hurricanes to a dominant win. Miami, ranked 12th, extended their winning streak in home openers to 17 games with this victory.
In his first two games of the season, Ward has amassed a total of 689 passing yards, joining a select group of Hurricanes quarterbacks with at least 600 yards in the first two games of a season. Miami’s offense was firing on all cylinders as Restrepo, Damien Martinez, Mark Fletcher, and Jordan Lyle all contributed scores to the team’s commanding win.
On the other side, Daniel Richardson of Florida A&M put up a solid performance with 135 passing yards, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Hurricanes’ defense. Tyler Baron stood out for Miami with three sacks, further solidifying the team’s dominant display on both sides of the ball.
Looking ahead, Miami’s next challenge will be against Ball State, while Florida A&M will face Troy in their upcoming game. The Hurricanes have a chance to climb back into the Top 10 of college football rankings after recent losses by higher-ranked teams. Miami’s last appearance in the Top 10 was in December 2020, and a strong start to their season could see them return to that position in the upcoming polls.
