Utah Quarterback Cam Rising Exits Game Against Baylor Due to Injury to His Right Hand

In a game against Baylor, Utah quarterback Cam Rising suffered a right hand injury in the first half and had to exit the game. The injury occurred just before halftime when Rising scrambled and threw the ball before going out of bounds, colliding with water coolers on the Baylor sideline and breaking his fall with his hand. Rising immediately showed signs of pain, and after a brief evaluation, he was taken to the locker room for X-rays. Unfortunately, he has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.

At the time of Rising’s injury, Utah was leading 23-0. Rising, a seventh-year QB, was off to a strong start this season, particularly highlighted by his five-touchdown performance in Utah’s 49-0 victory over Southern Utah. Before leaving the game against Baylor, Rising had completed 8 of 14 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Utah had entered the season with high expectations, being chosen as the preseason favorite in their inaugural year in the Big 12 conference. Rising’s injury is a setback for the Utes as they aim to continue their successful start to the season without their starting quarterback.
