White Sox break 12-game losing streak with dominant 8-1 victory against Baltimore

Jonathan Cannon led the Chicago White Sox to an 8-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, ending their 12-game losing streak. The White Sox hit three home runs in the game, with Nicky Lopez, Andrew Vaughn, and Dominic Fletcher all going deep. With the win, the White Sox improved their season record to 32-109 and need to go 11-10 for the remainder of the season to avoid matching the 1962 New York Mets’ post-1900 record of 120 losses.

Cannon pitched a solid 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run and five hits. On the other side, Albert Suárez struggled for the Orioles, giving up six runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. Gunnar Henderson started the scoring for the Orioles with a first-inning home run.

The White Sox took the lead for good with Vaughn and Fletcher hitting home runs in the fourth inning. Luis Robert Jr. and Lenyn Sosa also contributed offensively for the White Sox with key hits throughout the game.

Injuries affected both teams, with Robert leaving the game in the sixth inning due to hamstring tightness, and Vaughn getting struck in the leg by a foul ball but seemingly avoiding major injury. The Orioles’ Dean Kremer’s next start remains uncertain due to a wrist/hand issue.

Both teams have a day off on Thursday before resuming play on Friday. The White Sox will face the Boston Red Sox, with Davis Martin set to start for Chicago. The Orioles will host the Tampa Bay Rays but have not yet announced their starting pitcher.
