Prosecutor requests judge to revisit decision to dismiss charge against Alec Baldwin in ‘Rust’ case

In Santa Fe, New Mexico, a prosecutor has requested a judge to reconsider the dismissal of an involuntary manslaughter charge against actor Alec Baldwin in the tragic shooting incident that resulted in the death of a cinematographer on the set of a Western film. The prosecutor, Kari Morrissey, indicated in a court filing revealed on Wednesday that she believed there were insufficient facts to support the ruling in state district court and no infringement on Baldwin’s due process rights. The incident occurred during a rehearsal for the film “Rust,” in which Baldwin, who was also a co-producer, was holding a gun that accidentally discharged, fatally shooting cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. Despite this, the judge opted to dismiss the case midway through the trial.
