Louisiana to offer tax break on a range of hunting gear for Second Amendment sales event

This weekend in Louisiana, hunters and firearm enthusiasts can take advantage of the annual Second Amendment sales tax holiday, allowing them to save on certain hunting supplies. The state Department of Revenue announced that items such as firearms, ammunition, archery gear, hunting apparel, and specific types of knives will be exempt from both local and state taxes from 12:01 a.m. on Friday until midnight on Sunday.
However, not all hunting-related purchases qualify for the tax exemption. Items like hunting dogs, animal feed, off-road vehicles, and vessels such as airboats will not be eligible for the tax break.
Lawmakers reinstated the sales tax holiday last year after it had been suspended since 2018. The Department of Revenue’s website provides a complete list of items that are eligible for the tax exemption during the Second Amendment sales tax holiday.
