Virginia woman still missing, husband faces charges of concealing a body

More than a month has gone by since Mamta Bhatt, a 28-year-old mother and pediatric nurse from Virginia, vanished, with authorities suspecting she met a fatal end in a violent altercation at her residence in Manassas Park. Mamta’s husband, Naresh Bhatt, 37, is currently detained and accused of concealing a body as the search for Mamta continues. Despite the ongoing investigation, Mamta’s remains have yet to be discovered, as reported by The Washington Post.
The case has attracted international attention and has raised questions about the evidence linking Naresh Bhatt to his wife’s disappearance. In a recent court appearance, Shalev Ben-Avraham, attorney for Naresh Bhatt, pointed out that the charge of concealing a body implies the existence of a deceased individual, whereas all investigators have at this point is traces of blood at the residence.
Prosecutor Sarah Sami from Prince William County mentioned in court that the substantial amount of blood found at the couple’s home suggests injuries that were likely fatal. Naresh Bhatt, who has opted out of a preliminary hearing, remains in custody without bail until his upcoming court appearance in early October. According to NBC Washington, authorities combed through a local park during the weekend as part of the ongoing efforts to uncover information about Mamta Bhatt’s disappearance.
