Michigan State Fair shooting leaves one teen dead and another injured, police report

Two teenagers were involved in a shooting just outside the Michigan State Fair in Novi, Michigan, with one of them tragically losing their life as a result. The incident was determined by the police to be isolated in nature and not a continuing threat to the public. Gunshots were reported shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday in the fair’s parking lot, leading to a quick response from multiple law enforcement agencies initially assuming it to be an active shooter situation. However, the authorities later clarified that it was a singular criminal act.

Novi police declared on social media that there was no ongoing risk to the community following the shooting. The two victims, both 14-year-old boys who had come to the fair with friends, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The shooting was believed to have origins in a dispute that had transpired in the days leading up to the incident. Sadly, one of the teenagers succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, while the other remains in stable condition.

As of now, the police have not disclosed any information regarding a suspect in connection with the shooting. Novi, the Detroit suburb where the fair is situated, is approximately 30 miles northwest of the city’s center. The Michigan State Fair will conclude its activities on Monday.
