Memphis started off their season with an impressive 40-0 victory over North Alabama on Saturday night. Quarterback Seth Henigan threw two touchdown passes, one to Anthony Landphere and the other to Brendan Doyle, while Mario Anderson Jr. ran for two touchdowns. The Tigers took a commanding 31-0 lead by halftime, scoring 24 points in the second quarter.
Henigan completed 22 of 30 passes for 308 yards, with Roc Taylor leading the Memphis receivers with 87 yards on five catches. Memphis outgained North Alabama 372-185 in total yards and dominated on defense by holding North Alabama to just 3 of 15 on third-down conversions and forcing three turnovers.
On the other side, North Alabama’s Ari Patu threw for 103 yards but was intercepted twice by the Memphis defense. Memphis, the American Athletic Conference preseason favorite, has a perfect 11-0 record against FCS schools since 2013 and has also won 11 consecutive home openers.
This victory demonstrates a strong start for Memphis, showcasing their offensive and defensive capabilities as they begin their season on a high note.
