Taylen Green, the transfer quarterback from Boise State, led Arkansas to a dominating 70-0 victory over FCS-level Arkansas-Pine Bluff with seven first-half touchdowns on each of their possessions. Green showcased his skills by passing for 219 yards and two touchdowns, alongside rushing for 88 yards and two more touchdowns, including an impressive 36-yard scramble. Arkansas’s head coach, Sam Pittman, praised Green’s performance, especially highlighting his unexpected running ability.
Under the direction of new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, Arkansas’s offense was on fire, resulting in 279 rushing yards and various scoring plays involving nine different receivers. The team’s depth and talent were evident as they scored touchdowns on all ten of their possessions while maintaining a clean record with no turnovers.
Arkansas’s defense also shined in the game, recording four sacks and limiting Arkansas-Pine Bluff to only 7 yards rushing. Despite UAPB’s effort, they struggled to move the ball effectively against Arkansas’s dominant defense, ultimately falling short on the scoreboard.
The game also saw a significant influx of new players for Arkansas, with 55 additions to the roster since the previous season. The rebuilt offensive line, new quarterback Taylen Green, and first-time starter running back Ja’Quinden Jackson showcased their skills, contributing to the team’s impressive performance on both sides of the ball.
Taylen Green’s standout performance made him only the third Razorback quarterback since 1997 to achieve multiple passing and rushing touchdowns in a single game. Arkansas’s next challenge will be against Oklahoma State, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff will face Arkansas Baptist College in their upcoming matchups.
