Los Angeles Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto Begins Minor League Rehab Start Following More Than 2 Months on Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto recently made his return to the mound after spending over two months on the injured list. He pitched two innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing one hit and one earned run while striking out two. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts mentioned that Yamamoto also threw 10 pitches in the bullpen and that he performed well in his rehab start.
Roberts expressed optimism about Yamamoto’s progress, aiming to increase his pitch count to three innings in the upcoming outing and continue building his stamina. The 26-year-old Japanese pitcher had an impressive record of 6-2 with a 2.92 ERA in 14 games before his injury. Yamamoto had been sidelined since June 15 due to triceps tightness experienced during a game against Kansas City.
Yamamoto himself reported feeling good overall following his rehab appearance, as conveyed through an interpreter. He had signed a significant $325 million, 12-year contract with the Dodgers last offseason. It remains to be seen when he will be ready to rejoin the major league team.
