Yaw Yeboah made a significant impact in the 75th minute, scoring his first goal of the season to lead Columbus to a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union. This win marked the Crew’s sixth victory in their last eight games. Columbus had a six-game unbeaten streak, which included five wins, before their recent 2-1 loss to Atlanta United.
The goal came when Max Arfsten received a pass from Juan “Cucho” Hernández and delivered a perfect cross to Yeboah, who headed the ball into the net to give the Crew a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper Patrick Schulte made two crucial saves for Columbus, recording his eighth shutout this season, including three in the last four matches.
Philadelphia, with a record of 6-11-9, had recently achieved back-to-back wins for the first time in a while following a three-game win streak that began on March 23. Andre Blake, the Union’s goalkeeper, made six saves during the match.
The Crew dominated possession with 54% and registered seven shots on target, while the Union managed only two. Columbus continues to showcase their strong form as they seek to maintain their winning momentum in the Major League Soccer competition.
