Marcus Semien’s tiebreaking RBI double in the seventh inning proved to be the difference, with Corey Seager also contributing a run-scoring single. The win improved Texas to 5-0 against Chicago this season. Matt Festa earned the win, and Kirby Yates secured his 24th save of the season.

When the game resumed, Semien had a 2-2 count against pitcher Chris Flexen, ultimately resulting in a leadoff walk. Flexen was charged with three runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings, dropping to 0-10 in his last 20 appearances. The White Sox fell to 4-31 since the All-Star break and 31-102 overall.

In the regularly scheduled game, Jack Leiter was expected to start for Texas while the White Sox were yet to decide on their starting pitcher after assessing the first game’s outcome.
