Four individuals lost their lives, and ten others sustained injuries when a van overturned multiple times after the driver drifted off a highway in Texas on Wednesday, as per authorities. The tragic accident occurred close to 8 a.m. on U.S. 287 in Alvord, around 80 miles (130 kilometers) northwest of Dallas, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The van, carrying 14 occupants, was traveling north when the driver swerved into the median and then overcorrected, leading to the rollover.
Of the 14 individuals on board, three, including the driver, were pronounced dead at the scene, while another passenger succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital, DPS confirmed. Among the remaining passengers, two were listed in critical condition, seven had non-critical injuries, and one passenger had minor injuries, stated DPS. DPS Sgt. Josue “Tony” De La Cerda mentioned that the van was traveling from Florida, although the planned destination was not disclosed. The authorities are currently working on identifying all individuals involved, and their identities will be disclosed once their families have been informed of the tragedy.
