D.C. United has recently announced the extension of Christian Benteke’s contract through 2025, with an option for 2026. Benteke, a two-time MLS All-Star, has been a standout offensive player for the team since he joined in 2022. With 17 goals in 22 matches this season, he is currently tied for the league lead and has become the eighth player in club history to achieve consecutive seasons with at least 10 goals.
At 33 years old, the Belgian forward has proven himself on the field with 34 goals and eight assists in 66 matches across all competitions for D.C. United. Prior to joining the team, Benteke had a successful career in the English Premier League, amassing a total of 86 goals and 23 assists in 280 appearances for Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Crystal Palace.
