Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced the addition of 92 more Americans to their list of individuals prohibited from entering the country. The list includes journalists, U.S. law enforcement officials, and business figures. The ministry stated that the bans were in response to what they described as the Biden administration’s anti-Russia stance aimed at strategically weakening Moscow.
The banned journalists were singled out for their affiliation with what the ministry called “leading liberal-globalist publications” known for producing what they referred to as misinformation about Russia and its military. Notably, 11 current or former Wall Street Journal staff members, including editor Emma Tucker, were included in the new list due to their criticisms of Russia, particularly in relation to the arrest and espionage conviction of WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich.
Additionally, the ban extended to five journalists from The New York Times, four from The Washington Post, law enforcement officials, academics, and individuals from business and think tanks. According to the ministry, Russia has now barred over 2,000 Americans from entering the country.
