Brock Purdy’s performance varies in 49ers’ 24-24 preseason draw with the Raiders

Brock Purdy had a solid performance in the San Francisco 49ers’ 24-24 preseason tie against the Las Vegas Raiders. Purdy completed 9 of 12 passes for 96 yards but also threw a red-zone interception. Despite the mistake, Purdy’s coach was impressed by his effort to make a touchdown-saving tackle on the play.
The game saw the Raiders pulling even with the 49ers with a 43-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson in the closing moments. Both teams approached the game differently with the 49ers playing most of their starters early on, while the Raiders focused on assessing backup players fighting for roster spots.
Quarterback Nathan Peterman was a standout for the Raiders, completing 12 of 19 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown in the first half. On the other side, the 49ers were keen on evaluating their key players, including the preseason debuts of Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.
Despite missing some starters like Christian McCaffrey and having unresolved contract disputes with Trent Williams and Brandon Aiyuk, the 49ers put on a competitive display. The game marked the 49ers’ first appearance at Allegiant Stadium since their Super Bowl loss.
Injuries were also a concern for the 49ers as defensive ends Yetur Gross-Matos and Leonard Floyd left the game with knee sprains. Both players will undergo further evaluation to determine the extent of their injuries.
Looking ahead, the 49ers will host the New York Jets in the season opener, while the Raiders will visit the Los Angeles Chargers. Both teams are gearing up for the start of the regular season, with roster decisions looming as they work to finalize their squads for the upcoming campaign.
