In Westport, Connecticut, police are investigating the death of Robert Macisaac, whose body was discovered in the Aspetuck River downstream from where his submerged pickup truck was found. The police suspect that the severe flooding that caused the deaths of two individuals in the state might be linked to Macisaac’s demise, which occurred following a storm that brought over a foot of rain to southwestern Connecticut on Sunday.
Macisaac, 59, was found in the river in Westport, while his truck was located approximately a mile upstream in Fairfield. Authorities shared that a preliminary investigation hints at a potential connection between the incident and the extreme weather conditions during the recent storm. However, the exact reason for the vehicle leaving the road is still being looked into, with the official cause of Macisaac’s death pending determination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The storm unleashed heavy rain that led to significant flooding, turning small creeks and streams into powerful currents, damaging infrastructure, and inundating homes and businesses. Tragically, two women in Oxford lost their lives after being carried away by floodwaters. Several individuals had to be rescued in the aftermath of the storm.
Public records indicate that Macisaac resided near the Aspetuck River in Weston, a short distance from where his unoccupied truck was discovered submerged by a police diver at Aspetuck Falls. The authorities believe that the truck had been in the river for multiple days before Macisaac’s body was recovered hours later.
Macisaac was last seen at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, with his truck being spotted in Wilton around 10 p.m. that same day, according to police reports.
