The San Diego Padres made a roster move by optioning Matt Waldron to Triple-A El Paso and calling up Logan Gillaspie. Waldron’s demotion follows a tough outing where he gave up 10 runs on 12 hits in just over four innings during a game against the Minnesota Twins. This poor performance halted a potential three-game sweep by the Padres. Waldron has struggled in his last three starts, allowing a total of 22 runs in just over 14 innings of play. Throughout the season, Waldron had a record of 7-11 with a 4.79 ERA in 26 starts. On the other hand, Gillaspie has appeared in seven games this year, maintaining a 0-0 record with a 3.24 ERA.
