A shooting incident in Baltimore has resulted in the death of one person and the injuring of seven others, according to the police. The incident, which took place in east Baltimore just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, involved multiple individuals opening fire, as mentioned by Police Commissioner Richard Worley during a press conference. The shooting did not remain localized to a small area but occurred on a block near a park.

According to authorities, multiple firearms were discovered at the scene along with several victims. Anthony Martin, aged 36, was identified as the individual who succumbed to his injuries due to the shooting. The wounded individuals, ranging in age from 21 to 46, were reported to be in stable condition as of Monday afternoon.

Law enforcement officers were observed searching for evidence in the rain behind basketball court bleachers on the day of the incident. The shooting is currently under investigation, with Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott affirming that the city’s police department will diligently pursue those responsible to ensure they are held accountable for the violent act.

In a social media post, Mayor Scott urged anyone with information about the individuals involved, even if they are loved ones, to come forward and encourage them to take responsibility. He used the shooting incident to highlight the dangers posed to communities by the widespread availability of firearms, denouncing the ease of access to guns on the streets as a factor contributing to such tragic acts of violence that plague the city.
