One individual was fatally shot and five others sustained injuries in a shooting incident at a bar located in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi’s capital city. The shootings occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Daiquiri Bar, a venue situated less than half a mile away from the governor’s mansion, as confirmed by Capitol Police.
The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Niger Devon McGee by the coroner’s office. The five individuals who were wounded were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, according to a statement from Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesperson Bailey Martin.
In response to the tragic events, the Daiquiri Bar announced on their Facebook page that they are temporarily closed until further notice.
