Cristiano Ronaldo faced disappointment as his team, Al-Nassr, lost 4-1 to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup. Ronaldo, a star player who joined Al-Nassr in December 2022, scored the opening goal just before halftime in the showdown between the league champion Al-Hilal and runner-up Al-Nassr. However, Al-Hilal dominated the second half, netting four goals in a 17-minute span, with former Premier League striker Aleksandar Mitrovi? scoring twice.
Ronaldo, known for setting a league record with 35 goals last season, scored from close range in the 44th minute after a setup by Abdulrahman Ghareeb. Al-Hilal’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic equalized in the 55th minute before Mitrovi?’s brace and a goal from Brazilian winger Malcom sealed Al-Hilal’s victory. Mitrovi? praised his team’s second-half performance, highlighting their composure and ability to secure a trophy early in the season.
Despite the win, Al-Hilal is still missing Neymar due to a knee injury that has sidelined him since October. The team is set to begin its title defense against Al-Okhdood, while Al-Nassr will face Al-Raed in upcoming matches.
