Man receives 143-year prison sentence for brandishing gun at Burger King employee over drugs as payment

A man has been sentenced to 143 years in prison after a series of crimes he committed in Aurora, a Denver suburb, in October 2022. Eugene Robertson was convicted of pointing a gun at a Burger King drive-thru worker who declined drugs for payment and later firing shots elsewhere that night, with no injuries reported. Robertson faced multiple charges, including eight counts of attempted murder, resulting in a lengthy sentence totaling more than four centuries before being sentenced on August 9.

The 18th Judicial District Attorney, John Kellner, emphasized that the severe punishment aimed to send a clear message that violent crimes would not be tolerated in the community. Following the drive-thru incident, Robertson proceeded to a nearby convenience store where he threatened a clerk at gunpoint and subsequently fired at a surveillance camera before shooting towards two individuals in the parking lot, recounted by Kellner’s office.

Reports indicated that Robertson exhibited peculiar behavior, including discussing religious themes and carrying a Bible with a purple cover, as witnessed by individuals at the convenience store. Later on the same night, a female acquaintance of Robertson alerted the authorities after he allegedly discharged a firearm when she refused to open her apartment door, where she was gathered with others. Police responded to the scene at the woman’s apartment complex and apprehended Robertson after he attempted to conceal himself behind bushes.
