Daniel Jones, the Giants quarterback, is prepared to face the Texans

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is set to make his return to the field in a game against the Houston Texans, marking his first game since recovering from a significant knee injury sustained in November. Jones underwent surgery to repair his ACL after the injury suffered during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Having dedicated the past eight months to knee rehabilitation, Jones participated in team activities and minicamp in the spring and has been actively involved in training camp. While he did not play in the preseason opener against the Detroit Lions, Jones is eager and excited about getting back on the field in Houston.

Despite concerns about taking hits as he returns to the game, Jones expressed confidence in the condition of his knee, having tested it during practice and rehab sessions. The quarterback is also not worried about a previous neck injury that limited his playtime last season.

Jones has shown glimpses of his abilities during training camp, displaying improved running skills and connecting with teammates for exciting plays. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka emphasized the importance of Jones getting acclimated to game conditions and working cohesively with the team under game situations.

Uncertain of how long he will play in the upcoming game, Jones leaves the decision to head coach Brian Daboll. Meanwhile, the Giants face some uncertainty in the quarterback position with backup Drew Lock nursing a hip injury, paving the way for Tommy DeVito to take the majority of snaps.

In team roster updates, the Giants terminated defensive back Jalen Mills’ contract after he failed a physical, while adding running back Josh Kelley and safeties Jonathan Sutherland and Raheem Layne. Additionally, New York traded veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and a draft pick to Dallas in exchange for a draft pick in 2026.
