The Baltimore Orioles made a move on Thursday by sending highly-touted prospect Coby Mayo down to Triple-A Norfolk. Mayo struggled at the plate in his first major league stint, only managing to get 1 hit out of 17 at-bats. Despite getting his first career hit against Washington on Wednesday, Mayo was optioned, and infielder Livan Soto was called up from Norfolk to provide depth in the middle infield positions. Mayo, ranked as the No. 10 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, was unable to provide the offensive spark needed for the Orioles after third baseman Jordan Westburg’s injury.
