Marco Reus, a 35-year-old midfielder, has signed a deal with the LA Galaxy until the end of the 2026 season. Reus, a renowned player who spent 12 years with Borussia Dortmund, decided to depart his hometown club in May. Throughout his career, Reus achieved accolades such as being named the Budensliga Footballer of the Year in 2012 and 2019.
During his time playing for Germany from 2011-2012, Reus notably contributed 15 goals and 14 assists in 48 appearances. His significant play includes scoring a goal and providing an assist in Germany’s 2-1 victory over Sweden in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup held in Russia.
With 170 goals and 131 assists in 429 games for Dortmund, Reus has made a lasting impact in the world of soccer. LA Galaxy’s general manager, Will Kuntz, praised Reus as a top-tier player and expressed excitement about his addition to the team.
Reus’ rights were acquired by the LA Galaxy from Charlotte FC for $400,000 in general allocation money. Despite discussions with Charlotte FC, Reus opted for a move to the Galaxy, showcasing his eagerness to engage in the project being developed at the club. This development has the potential to enhance the LA Galaxy’s performance as they navigate the crucial final stages of the 2024 MLS season and beyond.
