Michigan coach Sherrone Moore expressed anticipation towards the release of his text messages with former recruiting staffer Connor Stalions, who resigned amidst a sign-stealing controversy. Moore recently addressed the media for the first time since the NCAA’s sign-stealing investigation flagged him for rule violations, as indicated by sources familiar with the communication between the NCAA and the school. The sources, who chose to remain anonymous due to the confidentiality of the notice, mentioned allegations of Moore deleting text exchanges with Stalions. However, one of them noted that the NCAA has suggested a Level 2 violation, a less severe charge, against Moore. The source also disclosed that the messages in question were retrieved and provided to the NCAA by Moore. Moore confirmed his willingness to cooperate with the NCAA throughout the investigative process, opting not to delve into further specifics when pressed for additional information.
Michigan had previously been placed on probation for three years, in addition to receiving fines and recruiting restrictions, as a result of a settlement reached in connection with the sign-stealing incident. The reigning national champion Wolverines hold the ninth spot in the preseason AP poll and are scheduled to kick off their season on August 31st against Fresno State at home.
