The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards are rescheduled to accommodate the upcoming U.S. presidential debate, now set to air live on September 11 at 8 p.m. Eastern from the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York. This change was made to avoid a clash with the debate scheduled for September 10, which had commitments from Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
MTV recently announced the nominees for the 2024 VMAs, with Taylor Swift leading the pack with 10 nominations. Post Malone follows closely behind with eight nominations, including his collaboration with Swift on the “Fortnight” music video. Other artists vying for the artist of the year award are Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Eminem, Sabrina Carpenter, and SZA.
Having won nine VMAs last year, Taylor Swift’s total tally sits at an impressive 23, just behind Beyoncé with 28 awards and ahead of Madonna and Lady Gaga. Grande, Carpenter, and Eminem each received six nods, while Megan Thee Stallion and SZA earned five nominations. LISA from Blackpink, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims have four nominations each.
With fan voting for 15 gender-neutral categories already underway and set to end on August 30, voting for the best new artist category will continue during the show. Performers lined up for the 2024 VMAs include Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, and Camila Cabello.
