Bob Woodward’s upcoming book, “War,” is set to be released on October 15th, delving into the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and their impact on American presidential politics. Publisher Simon & Schuster describes the book as an in-depth exploration of a turbulent period in American history, focusing on President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Donald Trump, who is running against Harris in the upcoming election.
Readers will be provided with insight into high-stakes conversations between President Biden and world leaders such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The book also covers Trump’s efforts to maintain influence through what is described as a “shadow presidency.”
Woodward’s book will offer a detailed account of President Biden’s strategies in handling the conflict in Ukraine, labeled as the most significant land war in Europe since World War II, as well as his challenges in managing the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas.
“War” will also examine Vice President Harris as she navigates inheriting Biden’s policies while shaping her own path as a potential presidential candidate. Despite Biden’s recent announcement that he will not seek re-election, Woodward has managed to complete the manuscript, with the possibility of making revisions before it goes to print to account for any new developments.
Woodward, renowned for his reporting on the Watergate scandal in the ’70s, has authored over 20 books, many of which have topped The New York Times’ nonfiction bestseller list. He has a track record of releasing topical works ahead of national elections, including “Plan of Attack” in 2004 during President George W. Bush’s re-election campaign and “Peril” in 2020 focusing on Trump.
Details regarding the financial terms of the book were not disclosed. Woodward was represented by Robert Barnett, a Washington attorney whose clientele includes prominent political figures such as Bush, Clinton, and Obama.
