Owner of Barstool Rescued by Coast Guard After Boat Incident near Nantucket

The founder of Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy, had a frightening experience off the coast of Massachusetts when he lost control of his boat and had to be rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard. Portnoy, 47, shared details of the incident in a TikTok video, explaining that strong winds caused his boat to drift out to sea after he unhooked it from buoys and his engine failed. Another boater noticed his distress and alerted the Coast Guard who came to his aid.
The Coast Guard successfully towed Portnoy’s boat back to mooring, and he expressed his gratitude towards the rescuers in a TikTok video, joking that he might take a break from boating for a while. Despite the ordeal, Portnoy managed to maintain his sense of humor, referring to himself as “Captain Dave” and sharing his adventurous tale with his followers.
Portnoy, known for his active presence on social media with millions of followers, utilized another platform to thank the Coast Guard for their assistance. In response, the Coast Guard sent a message for Portnoy’s pit bull, Miss Peaches, expressing their support and fondness for the beloved pet. This incident adds to the colorful experiences of Portnoy, who established Barstool Sports in 2003 and has amassed a substantial following on various social media platforms, including over 16 million followers on Instagram.
