Former primary rival, Nikki Haley, to address the Republican convention on Tuesday

Former U.N. Ambassador and two-time South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is set to deliver a speech on Tuesday at the Republican National Convention. The speech by Haley, who was a major challenger to former President Donald Trump in the recent GOP primary, is highly anticipated. The announcement came following a recent incident where a gunman opened fire at one of Trump’s rallies in Butler, Pennsylvania, and Trump sustained a minor injury to his right ear.
According to Haley’s spokesperson Chaney Denton, Haley was not initially included on the list of speakers but has since been added to the schedule. A Republican official, who requested anonymity, confirmed the last-minute change to the convention lineup.
Despite previous tensions between Haley and Trump during the primary campaign, Haley publicly endorsed Trump and urged her delegates to support him for party unity. During the primaries, Haley criticized Trump for sowing chaos and neglecting U.S. alliances abroad. She refrained from endorsing Trump when she withdrew from the race in early March but later announced her intention to vote for him.
Trump had derisively referred to Haley as “Birdbrain” during their time as rivals in the primary race. However, his criticism waned after securing enough delegates to clinch the presumptive Republican nomination back in March.
