Taylor Swift is back in the USA from her huge Asia concert tour. She landed with her boyfriend Travis Kelce in her private plan Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles – too late to attend the Oscars but just in time to be part of a fabulous Gucci party after the Oscars.
While Taylor partied in LA a huge political “war of words” between the prime ministers of three Asian countries about her Eras tour developed. Taylor played six concerts from March 2 to March 9 with more than 300,000 fans visiting her Eras-Show in Singapore only.
The Prime ministers of Thailand and the Philippines accused the government of little Singapore to have paid a “bribe” of 18 million Dollars – three million per show extra to all ticket and merchandising income – to Taylor Swift for a clause in her contract, that she will perform her Eras-tour in Singapore only and in no other Asian country (except earlier concerts in Japan).
That exclusivity lead to a huge tourism-boom for Singapore. Out of the 300,000 fans more than half came from neighboring countries Thailand and the Philippines, bringing huge amounts of income from flights, hotel-bookings and consumption to Singapore.
VIP Tickets for the Singapore show were going for $1,395 each, each tourist spends nearly $1,800 on the trip.
Thai prime minister Sretta Thavisin went after Singapore harshly: “To pay bribe money for concert exclusivity is unfair and an unfriendly act to the neighboring countries. We would have paid 14 Million Dollars also for exclusivity in Thailand if we had known this secret deal – and Taylor would have had more fans and cheaper costs in Thailand. It’s a big disadvantage that she didnt give concerts in Thailand.”
Swift obviously made a lot of PR for Singapore in exchange for the 18 Million – in every concert she praised how much she likes Singapore, how wonderful this city was and that her mother is coming from this country”.
Swift revealed during her Singapore concerts the final version of her upcoming album “The Tortured Poets Department” which will be released on April 19.
