NL Cy Young Award recipient Chris Sale delivers 2 flawless innings for Atlanta in his first spring outing.

Fort Myers, Florida — Following his recent achievement of winning the Cy Young Award, Chris Sale kicked off his spring training with an impressive display, pitching two immaculate innings for the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.

Although the Braves fell short against the Minnesota Twins with a score of 3-1, the 35-year-old Sale managed to retire all six batters he faced, even though he did not record any strikeouts during the outing.

This marks Sale’s second season with the Braves. Last year, the left-handed pitcher achieved remarkable success, finishing the season with an 18-3 record, a 2.38 ERA, and hitting a total of 225 strikeouts. His outstanding performance allowed him to secure the National League pitching Triple Crown and ultimately earn the prestigious Cy Young Award. Notably, he was healthy enough to make 29 starts, which is the highest number for him since 2017.

During his performance on Saturday, Sale threw 21 pitches, with 14 of those being strikes, showcasing his control on the mound as he prepares for the upcoming season.
