Eddie Fisher, a star relief pitcher for the Chicago White Sox in 1965, passes away at 88 years old.

Eddie Fisher, a right-handed pitcher celebrated for his 15-year tenure in Major League Baseball, has passed away at the age of 88. The Lowell-Tims Funeral Home & Crematory in Altus announced that Fisher died on Monday following a short illness.

Born on July 16, 1936, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Fisher launched his major league career in 1959 with the San Francisco Giants. Over the span of his professional journey, he also played for several teams, including the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, California Angels, and St. Louis Cardinals.

Fisher was primarily used as a relief pitcher and gained recognition during the 1965 season, earning an All-Star nod when he posted an impressive record of 15 wins and 7 losses, along with a 2.40 ERA. During that remarkable year, he set an American League record by making 82 appearances on the mound. His most notable achievement came in the following season when he was part of the Orioles team that clinched the World Series championship.
