Shakira has canceled one of her highly anticipated Peru concerts after being hospitalized with an “abdominal issue.”

Emergency Hospital Visit Forces Show Cancellation

The 48-year-old She Wolf singer was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, Feb. 15, amid her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour. She shared the news with fans via Instagram Stories the following day.

“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” she wrote.

Following medical advice, Shakira canceled her Feb. 16 show at the National Stadium of Peru, the first of two back-to-back performances in Lima. Doctors determined she was “not in good enough condition to perform.”

Shakira Hopes to Recover for Second Lima Show

Expressing her disappointment, Shakira assured fans she had been looking forward to reuniting with them in Peru. She remains hopeful that she will be well enough to take the stage for her second scheduled show on Feb. 17.

For those affected by the cancellation, she noted that her team and event promoters are already working on rescheduling the performance.

“Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all,” she wrote, signing off as “Shak.”

Tour Kickoff & Grammy Win

Shakira’s hospitalization comes just days after launching her world tour in Rio de Janeiro on Feb. 11. The tour follows her recent Grammy win for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which earned her the award for Best Latin Pop Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.

While accepting the honor, she dedicated it to immigrants, hardworking women, and her two sons, Milan, 12, and Sasha, 10, who watched proudly from the audience.

As fans await updates on her health, they are sending well wishes for her speedy recovery and hoping she can continue her tour as planned.
