The anticipation is building as track and field enthusiasts, as well as football fans, await a showdown between Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill. These two athletes are taking the next steps toward a long-discussed race that promises to be an exciting spectacle.

However, specifics such as the date, location, and distance of the race remain unclear.

In a recent joint interview with People magazine, Lyles, the reigning Olympic champion in the 100-meter sprint, and Hill, an electrifying NFL wide receiver, confirmed that they are set to compete against each other, though they did not provide further details.

Hill shared that the rivalry has been ongoing for quite some time, noting that their exchanges on social media have caught plenty of attention. “This has been an ongoing thing for quite some time now,” Hill stated, referring to last summer when he confidently claimed he could defeat Lyles in a race. “I’ve been very adamant to show people what real, true speed looks like.”

This month, Lyles formally accepted Hill’s challenge following his victory in a 60-meter indoor sprint. During the event, he showcased a sign reading “Tyreek Could Never,” emphasizing his confidence.

“I think it speaks for itself,” Lyles remarked about the sign. He also added, “Everybody says that they’re gonna be the world’s fastest, but when it comes down to it, you gotta be the winner every time, each and every time, and every time I show up to the biggest moments, I win.”

For context, Hill has clocked an impressive 4.29 seconds in a 40-yard dash during an NFL workout, while Lyles achieved a time of 9.784 seconds in the 100 meters at last year’s Olympics.

It’s likely that the duo will race at a distance that lies between these two sprints. According to reports, the highly-anticipated race is expected to take place prior to the national championships scheduled for July.
