NEW ORLEANS — Nelly infused his renowned St. Louis flair into a New Orleans staple, transforming a restaurant with nearly seventy years of history into a vibrant Super Bowl week celebration.
The iconic Grammy-winning artist electrified the atmosphere at Brennan’s on Friday night, performing a collection of his biggest hits during the h.wood “Homecoming” concert in collaboration with DraftKings. As excitement mounted, fans surged toward the stage, while Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe and actor Jaleel White relaxed in the VIP section. Flavor Flav occupied a prime onstage location, fully enjoying the spirited performance.
The Chainsmokers set the mood before Nelly took the stage, delivering energetic renditions of their chart-toppers from “Closer” to “Roses.”
Prior to Nelly’s performance, guests enjoyed a few hours of mingling at this exclusive event. However, when the rapper arrived, a large crowd hurried toward the front, eager to document the show on their devices.
While Flavor Flav captured the moment on camera, Nelly entertained the audience with a lineup of fan favorites, including “Ride Wit Me,” “E.I.,” and “Air Force Ones.” The crowd sang along enthusiastically to the chorus of “Dilemma,” featuring Kelly Rowland, which earned a Grammy in 2003. Nelly also performed “Hot in Here,” another Grammy triumph from the same year.
This Homecoming concert was part of a night brimming with live music events throughout New Orleans leading up to the anticipated clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
In addition, Shaquille O’Neal hosted his carnival-themed Shaq’s Funhouse, which featured Ludacris and John Summit as headliners. Notable attendees included rapper Sexyy Red, football player Desean Jackson, former NBA star Paul Pierce, and Patrick Surtain II, who recently received the NFL’s defensive player of the year accolade.
