Several high-profile quarterbacks will not be taking part in this week’s Pro Bowl Games, including Lamar Jackson from Baltimore, Josh Allen from Buffalo, and Jayden Daniels from Washington. On Tuesday, the NFL disclosed the final rosters, and these quarterbacks were absent from the lineup. In their stead, rookie Drake Maye from the New England Patriots will step in for Jackson on the AFC team, while Russell Wilson of the Pittsburgh Steelers is set to replace Allen. Additionally, Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is taking Daniels’ position.
Both Allen and Daniels faced defeats in their respective conference championship games last weekend, while Jackson’s season concluded a week earlier during the divisional playoff round. Notably, both Allen and Jackson are regarded as contenders for the MVP award this season.
In addition to the quarterback changes, the rosters have seen further modifications. Buffalo Bills running back James Cook and center Connor McGovern have also been tapped as replacements. Cook will take over the role previously held by Baltimore’s Derrick Henry, who finished with an impressive 1,921 rushing yards this season. Meanwhile, Cook himself achieved 1,009 rushing yards, and his 16 rushing touchdowns tied him with Henry and Jahmyr Gibbs from Detroit for the highest number in the league.
McGovern will take the place of Creed Humphrey, the center for the Kansas City Chiefs, who are moving on to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl following their recent victory over Buffalo.
Another roster adjustment involves Pittsburgh Steelers guard Isaac Seumalo, who is set to make his Pro Bowl debut by filling in for Kansas City’s Trey Smith. Additionally, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba will join the Pro Bowl lineup, taking the spot of Washington’s Terry McLaurin. He will be the third Seahawks player selected for this year’s game, joining teammates Leonard Williams and Devon Witherspoon.
The Pro Bowl Games are scheduled to take place from Thursday through Sunday in Orlando, Florida, featuring a series of skills competitions alongside a flag football game.
