Coca-Cola embraces nostalgia by launching its new Orange Cream flavor.

In a move to diversify its flavor offerings, Coca-Cola is set to introduce Coca-Cola Orange Cream, a new soda variety, starting February 10 in both the United States and Canada. This innovative drink will be available in regular and zero-sugar options, catering to a wide array of consumers.

The Atlanta-based beverage giant announced this development on Monday, explaining that the new flavor incorporates a delightful blend of cola, orange, and vanilla. This launch is a response to an increasing consumer appetite for flavors that evoke nostalgia and comfort.

Orange cream has a storied history, initially popularized by the Creamsicle ice cream bar back in 1937. Recently, this flavor profile has seen a resurgence, with various brands exploring it. For instance, Olipop launched its own orange cream flavor in 2021, while Carvel brought back its Orange Dreamy Creamy ice cream last year for the first time since 1972. Burger chain Wendy’s also joined the trend, releasing its Orange Dreamsicle Frosty in the spring of last year.

Coca-Cola has been actively experimenting with different flavors to retain consumer interest in its core product. The year 2022 saw the brand unveil Coca-Cola Creations, a series of limited-edition flavors presented in vibrant cans and bottles. These creative concoctions included unique hints of coconut, strawberry, and even Oreo cookies.

In February of the previous year, Coca-Cola attempted to expand its flavor repertoire with Coca-Cola Spiced, a raspberry-flavored soda which was initially presented as a permanent fixture in their collection. However, it was unexpectedly withdrawn from the market in September, paving the way for the introduction of the upcoming flavor.

Coca-Cola has indicated that while the Orange Cream flavor won’t be offered indefinitely, it is expected to be available at least until the end of the first quarter of 2026.

Coca-Cola’s North American marketing chief, Shakir Moin, discussed the company’s evolving strategy in a prior interview. He noted that product development timelines have shortened significantly; what once took a year is now expedited to keep up with shifting consumer tastes and market dynamics. “We’ve got to be faster than the speed of the market,” he remarked, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to agility in its flavor innovation.
