Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers made significant arrests this week, targeting violent offenders in sanctuary cities like Boston. The operation resulted in over 300 arrests nationwide and included gang members, murder and rape suspects, and individuals flagged by international law enforcement.

Among the arrested were MS-13 gang members and a Haitian gang member with 17 recent convictions. The Haitian suspect, who proclaimed, “F–k Trump, Biden forever,” reportedly resisted deportation, stating he was “not going back to Haiti.” ICE agents also arrested suspects on Red Notices and carried out at least one “collateral” arrest of an undocumented immigrant not initially targeted.

The Trump administration’s deportation initiative

This intensified operation aligns with President Trump’s plan to deport 700,000 illegal migrants with criminal records. ICE officers, armed with “target sheets,” aim to prioritize arrests in sanctuary cities. Boston, Denver, Atlanta, and other locations were part of the first wave of this effort.

Border security measures escalate

The administration also introduced strict border control policies, halting the release of migrants into the U.S. and preparing to deploy 10,000 troops to secure the southern border. These actions mark a stark contrast to previous immigration policies and signal a renewed focus on enforcement and deportation.

Public reaction and future outlook

The arrests sparked mixed reactions, with some residents expressing gratitude to ICE agents while sanctuary cities continue to challenge federal immigration efforts. ICE’s operations are expected to intensify, demonstrating the administration’s resolve to enforce stricter immigration policies.
