SAN ANTONIO — A serious incident occurred when seven officers from the San Antonio Police Department were injured while responding to an emergency call about a potential suicide. This shooting left the suspect dead within an apartment, as reported by law enforcement officials.

On Wednesday night, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in response to a call about a “suicide in progress.” Shortly after their arrival, authorities received an additional report indicating gunfire at the scene. The initial call for help reportedly came from a relative of the suspect.

Upon reaching the location, officers were informed by a woman exiting the apartment that the suspect was discharging a firearm and might soon emerge. The situation escalated rapidly when Brandon Scott Poulos, 46, began shooting at the officers, injuring one by hitting him in the leg. The wounded officer was promptly evacuated from the area while Poulos retreated back inside and continued to fire upon the responding team, resulting in several more injuries. All injured officers received immediate medical attention either at local hospitals or on-site.

In response to the unfolding crisis, a SWAT team was called in, and efforts were made to persuade Poulos to surrender peacefully for several hours. Eventually, he was found dead, with the circumstances of his death still under investigation. Authorities have yet to determine whether he took his own life or was shot during the standoff.

It is noteworthy that Poulos had a previous legal issue, having been arrested for violating a protection order earlier in the year, although he was released on bail the following day.
