The iconic Diet Coke button is back in the Oval Office! After President Trump’s inauguration, the button he made famous during his first term has returned to the Resolute Desk.
Spotting the button
The small red button, tucked inside a wooden box, was spotted in its old spot, according to The Wall Street Journal. It had been removed in 2021 by President Joe Biden. But now, it’s back! The button, when pressed, alerts White House staff that Trump wants his favorite drink: Diet Coke.
Trump’s love for diet Coke
Trump has always had a soft spot for his soda. In 2017, he admitted to Financial Times, “Everyone gets a little nervous when I press that button.” It’s clear the button made quite an impression!
Oval office gets a makeover
But that’s not all. The Oval Office underwent a full makeover, as it traditionally does for each new president. Trump’s office now features portraits of some of America’s founding figures, including Benjamin Franklin and George Washington, whose portrait hangs above the fireplace. The Wall Street Journal also reports that Trump has brought back busts of Winston Churchill and Martin Luther King Jr.
A familiar touch
The president has a knack for bringing back familiar items. He’s kept the gold curtains from his first term, which Biden continued to use. Even the silver eagle figures above the fireplace, a new addition, add a distinctive touch to the office.
A new coffee table setup
Another noticeable change? The coffee table! Under Biden, it was all about chocolate chip cookies. But now, a bouquet of flowers graces the table, alongside a square gold paperweight emblazoned with the word “Trump.”
Trump’s office is a mix of the old and the new. The rug has been switched out too. Gone is Biden’s blue one, replaced with the neutral-colored rug Trump used before.
It’s clear that Trump’s return to the Oval Office has come with a sense of familiarity—and a touch of nostalgia.
