Heidi Montag reaches iTunes summit following the loss of her home to Los Angeles wildfires

Heidi Montag, the star of reality television, has seen her 2010 album “Superficial” climb to No. 1 on iTunes’ overall songs and albums charts—15 years after its initial release and shortly after she and her husband, Spencer Pratt, were affected by the Palisades Fire, losing their home in the process.

On Friday, Pratt shared several images of their home on TikTok, urging fans to support Montag by streaming her music across various platforms, suggesting it could significantly help their situation. His call to action proved effective. “Superficial” surpassed Bad Bunny’s latest release, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” to achieve the top position on the albums chart. The title track also outperformed popular songs, overtaking Blackpink’s ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ well-known single “APT” on the songs chart.

Pratt expressed his gratitude in an Instagram video posted on Sunday, stating, “Thank you everyone! Who needs a house, who needs clothes, who needs anything but this level of clout, pop, superstardom?” He added how their sons would someday be proud to know their mother was No. 1 on iTunes. For the couple, this momentary triumph was something to celebrate amid their recent hardships.

“Superficial” also experienced a remarkable surge on Apple Music. According to reports, Saturday marked Montag’s biggest streaming day ever on the platform, with increased streams nearly 600% compared to the previous week. This uplift was confirmed by a representative from Apple Music.

By Sunday, the album made a triumphant return to the pop albums chart on Apple Music in 17 different countries, breaking into the chart for the first time in six countries—such as the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the U.K.—where it peaked at No. 9. In the all-genre albums category on Apple Music, the album reentered the rankings in seven countries, hitting No. 65 in the U.S. for the first time.

Montag was already a notable figure on the hit show “The Hills,” which premiered in 2006, when she met Pratt, who joined the show in its second season. Throughout their time on the show, the couple, particularly Pratt, embraced their portrayed personas as attention-seeking individuals, even authoring a book titled “How to Be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press, and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture” in 2009, the same year they tied the knot.

Known to fans and the media as “Speidi,” they were consistent fixtures in tabloids, always searching for new entertainment ventures. Music was just one of the various paths Montag explored. After “The Hills” concluded in 2010, the couple’s celebrity status waned significantly. Since then, they have relied on social media platforms to engage with their dedicated fan base and share updates about their lives.
